Arica has been serving clients for 20 years, and truly loves being a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She has had the honor of serving clients in a wide range settings including community mental health clinics, behavioral health hospitals, residential treatment facilities, correctional institutions, and a lifestyle counseling center.

She has embarked on a lifelong journey of education both through formal trainings and programs, and also acknowledges that she has learned just as much from her clients and colleagues over the years. Clients can expect to feel respected, listened to, and most importantly, that they have someone on their team working with them to meet their goals.

For her undergraduate education she attended Colgate University and then the University Of Oregon where she completed two degrees at the School of Music. After moving to Seattle and playing in cover bands for a few years, as well as having two lovely sons, she then decided to go back to school to become a nurse in 2001, and graduated from Seattle University with a Masters of Science in Nursing in 2007. She has completed additional trainings in motivational interviewing, dialectical behavioral therapy, substance use treatments, lifestyle medicine for metabolic conditions and circadian rhythm disorders, gastrointestinal training through the Institute for Functional Medicine, Disaster Mental Health training, and most recently, Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). ART is one of the most effective and efficient treatments for trauma and can offer relief after only a few sessions.

She enjoys most forms of exercise, especially the moving meditation of yoga, and has completed training as a yoga instructor as well as trauma informed yoga. She is very grateful to be back on Maui where she grew up, and really enjoys laughter, especially since lots of her family members on Maui are absolutely hilarious.

What Our Community Are Saying

Grateful that Mindful Living Group has produced a Kundalini Yoga series in 4 sessions once per week. Tonight is session four and already excited to learn there will be another series available soon. The outdoor space is cool and breezy with beautiful plumeria flowers gently falling. Jessica Brazil is a good teacher and the sound bath she creates with crystal bowls at the end is very relaxing while we are in Savasana.

Paul Hugel

Jessica is not only a professional that stays true to her beliefs, she is open to listen to her client's needs and is able to adapt to deliver beyond what is discussed. She is able to communicate through passion and love in a simple and authentic way that captures the audience and resonates with different types of participants, including high level executives.

Audrey Guibat Demont

I have known Jessica and Cailin professionally for many years and would happily refer anyone to them. They both have huge hearts, are very knowledgable, and truly want to help those in our community. Cailin is so wonderful with children and always goes above and beyond with each child she works with. Our community is lucky to have such caring and passionate therapists.

Amy Peterson

I have enjoyed group events and felt great peace sharing personal experiences. The sensitive touch of human kindness that I have received from this group is matched by no other event, service or retreat I've have experienced. Mahalo MLG!

Jose C. Nunez

Mindful Living Group has already helped me a lot with controlling my nervous system and I have only been with them for about four months. Excited to keep working with Mindful Living Group!

Corbin Glover

Through this sacred journey I was able to make profound shifts - and know I will continue to integrate what I have learned for years to come. So blessed for Dr. Kahu Kahealani, her compassion, wisdom and dedication. For holding us accountable to do "the work" so that we can all remember and come home to the light we all hold.

Maria Pentcheva

I have worked professionally with this group and am very impressed with the insights they help their clients achieve through their skills and compassion.
