What Is Telehealth?

Telehealth means meeting your provider by secure video rather than in an office. The session itself works the same way, with the same provider, the same length and the same clinical approach.

For many people on the outer islands, the nearest suitable provider is a flight away. For others, the barrier is a work schedule, a lack of childcare, limited mobility or the simple fact that leaving the house on a difficult day is more than they can manage.

Research on telehealth has found it to be at least as effective as in-person delivery for many mental health services.

At Mindful Living Group, telehealth sessions run over secure, encrypted systems. You will need a private space and a reliable internet connection and your provider will talk through anything else you need before your first appointment.

How Telehealth Works at Mindful Living Group

Therapy by Video

Individual, couples and family therapy are all available remotely, including trauma-focused work such as EMDR, which providers deliver using approaches adapted for video.

Psychiatric Care and Medication Management

Psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis and ongoing medication management can be provided by telehealth for people across the islands, reducing the need for regular travel.

Availability Across the Islands

If you live on Kauaʻi, Molokaʻi, Lānaʻi or Hawaiʻi Island, telehealth connects you with providers who live and work in Hawaiʻi and who might otherwise be out of reach.

Getting Started

Booking works the same way as an in-person appointment. Your provider will send a secure link before your session, and you will need a private space and a reliable connection. If an in-person visit is needed first, we will tell you when you book.

Is Telehealth Right for You?

  • Do you live somewhere that makes reaching an office regularly difficult or expensive?
  • Would you be more likely to attend therapy sessions if you could meet from home?
  • Is your schedule, health or caregiving situation making in-person appointments hard to manage?
  • Have you been putting off finding a provider because the logistics felt like too much?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, our providers are ready to help you.
