Accelerated Resolution Therapy

What Is Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)?
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (also known as ART) is an evidence-informed psychotherapy modality that works with how the brain stores distressing memories.
Developed in 2008, ART combines eye movement desensitization, Gestalt therapy and guided imagery within a structured, directive protocol. Guided eye movements and deep breathing bring the nervous system into a more receptive state, which allows distressing images and the sensations attached to them to soften.
What sets ART apart is how much control you keep throughout. You are never required to describe traumatic content out loud and you choose which memories to approach and how far to go with each one.
Through a process called voluntary image replacement, a distressing scene can be reshaped into an image that feels more settling or complete, while the facts of what happened remain intact.
At Mindful Living Group, ART is offered both as a standalone service and alongside other therapy work you may already be doing with another provider.
How ART Works with Distressing Memories
Results Within 1-5 Sessions
ART is structured to move efficiently, typically addressing a single area of concern within one to five sessions without requiring extended timelines or between-session homework.
You Don't Have to Say It Out Loud
The ART protocol does not ask for spoken recounting of traumatic events, allowing the work to proceed with full nervous system engagement while honoring each person's boundaries, pace and capacity.
You Stay in Control
You decide which memory to work with, how far to go and when to stop. Nothing proceeds without your choice and the pace is set by you rather than by the ART protocol.
Advanced ART Specialists
ART at Mindful Living Group is offered by trained practitioners, including Jessica Brazil, Molly Palmer, and Arica Keyser, both of whom hold advanced-level ART training.
Mind & Body Approach
ART attends to the body as much as the mind, tracking physical sensations alongside imagery throughout each session.
The Memory Stays, The Emotional Charge Changes
ART does not erase what happened. The facts remain, while the images, emotions and physical sensations connected to them may become less distressing, helping you to move forward on your own terms.

- Do unwanted images or physical sensations keep resurfacing, even when you understand where they come from?
- Does the thought of describing a traumatic experience out loud make therapy feel difficult to begin?
- Are you looking for a time-efficient approach to therapy that focuses on one specific experience or concern?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, our Accelerated Resolution Therapy specialists are ready to help you.
