She holds both a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Social Work from the Myron B. Thompson School of Social Work at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, with a concentration in medical social work.
Mikaila’s clinical background includes delivering assessment, intervention, and case management services across diverse populations, spanning pediatrics through geriatric patients. Her experience includes two years in community mental health, where she provided evidence-informed support for individuals with a range of psychiatric conditions, as well as prior work in co-occurring disorder treatment with an emphasis on integrated behavioral health care.
In her practice, Mikaila incorporates a blend of evidence-based modalities tailored to each client’s needs. Her clinical approach includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). She also grounds her work in trauma-informed care principles to ensure emotional safety, empowerment, and collaborative treatment. By integrating these approaches, Mikaila provides a client-centered therapeutic experience that emphasizes both insight and practical tools for daily functioning
She maintains a strong clinical interest in women’s reproductive and perinatal mental health, including the psychosocial impacts of pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Mikaila is currently completing training toward Doula certification with the goal of expanding integrative postpartum support services for individuals and families on Maui.
Outside of work, Mikaila loves spending time in the ocean- whether she’s surfing, swimming, or paddling with her family.
